The 411 Club, Cardiff

By Mark Devlin | 18 January 2010
In a nightlife scene now dominated by High Street chains all playing exactly the same selection of predicable pop pap, it's encouraging to know there are still independent venues out there run by people with a passion for REAL music, and willing to cater to those with discerning taste who don't want to listen to Lady Gaga every time they go out!

One such breath of fresh air is the 411 Club in Cardiff. The venue is run by DJ and promoter Moniz, who has been active for many years on the urban/ R&B/ hip hop/ dancehall scene, and has brought his musical vision to bear on 411. Its formula, he maintains, is simply a cool, relaxed atmosphere for unpretentious people who want to dance, socialise and enjoy good music without any of the dramas - or poor-quality sounds - that tend to occur elsewhere.

A number of promotions and special events are planned for the coming months. Already underway is The Face of 411, a model competition that relies as much on personality and smartness as it does on looks. Black Sheep Mag will also be in the house for a special event in due course.
