By Mark Devlin | 01 June 2011

Plug and play is a non-profit organisation set up by a collective of successful media professionals focused on delivering a unique annual charitable event. This year’s event is in aid of Cancer Research UK. www.cancer.org.uk and will be held at the Westbourne Studios in West London's Portobello area.

Doors will open at 12pm - 4am Saturday and 12pm-12am Sunday.

The response to this event from the artists, presenters, guest speakers, companies and production volunteers has been phenomenal.

Expect the weekend to be full of the UK's biggest established DJs/Artists and upcoming Artists, all in aid of giving. Some of the aritsts performing are  Norman Jay (MBE), DJ Krust (Full Cycle), Phil Asher, Nate James and the Sugasmak, DJ Excallibah, The Modernists, Kasai Masai, Segunda Geracao, Michelle Escoffery and many many more.

See the flyer below for the full line-up.

Plug and Play’s festival director, Billy Reid a music Artist himself with a record deal in Japan, a graphic designer and established UK events promoter;

"it was started with the idea of "why wait to give?' why don't we have a yearly event set up just for giving? I wanted to gather people from the music industry, independent and signed artists alike, in order to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Cancer Research was the first charity that came to my mind due to the fact that it is one close to my heart having lost my mum. I believe we have all been affected by Cancer in one way or another and I hope that 2011 Plug and Play festival will raise over 25000 pounds this year"

Consuela Mckenzie, Plug and Plays Events Producer, has spent 15 years in the media industry setting up companies and producing events in the UK and LA (USA). Thanksgivends being a yearly benefit where most of LA’s underground, talent on the rise and some mainstream artists come together for a good cause and to celebrate each others talents. This benefit is one she wanted to bring back to the UK.

". It was something that every year LA artists looked forward to. This charitable and giving attitude gave the festival an atmosphere like no other profit making event I had experienced. On returning to London and hearing from Billy about his Plug and Play concept, we discovered we had a very similar goals regarding this particular music event so we decided to collaborate and Plug and Play Festival as it is was born. It has expanded far beyond our initial expectations."

Shahla Karkouti, Head of Media and Press, has been producing events in the music, film and arts industry in Europe, The Middle-east and South/north America over 10 years. She has continuously worked alongside charities and NGO's and was infact the youngest trustee to a charity (IAC) ever to be selected in the UK. With an artistc background herself, she has always aimed to put the artists first.

"The combination of a Music festival with a charitable aim attracted me to the Plug and Play Festival for obvious reasons. I know we are all going through difficult times at the moment but the overwhelming interest in this festival has been inspirational to us and I expect Plug and Play Festival 2012 to be even bigger than this one."'

Cancer Research are a partner in the event, there will be celebrity speakers in the opening and closing ceremonies.

There will also be Live Graffiti art/workshops from Chrome & Black, stalls, food and films and festival fun throughout the day...

The weekend will be a London festival filled atmosphere with the essence of giving, amazing music and people. We look forward to having you there to join in the experience and to help us raise money for Cancer Research UK.
