Black Sheep Mag guests at Supa Dupa Fly, The Jazz Café, London, Friday 8th July

By Mark Devlin | 07 June 2011

Any 'urban' club night that deviates from the usual predictable fare of hybrid pop dance is to be welcomed these days, (especially by the Black Sheep Mag team!) and we found an absolute gem a few months ago when Supa Dupa Fly launched monthly at the legendary Jazz Cafe in London. The crew behind it have really made a go of things, packing out Camden each month, and even starting a second event at Plan B in Brixton. On Friday 8th July, Black Sheep will be firmly in the house at the flagship Camden event, with the mag's Mark Devlin going into musical utopia by dropping a special two-hour set of nothing but pure 90s.

The event is designed to bring back the golden days of hip-hop, R&B and new jack swing from the golden decade of the 90s. It's where Montell Jordan and R Kelly rub shoulders with Mary J Blige, TLC, Aaliyah, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Gang Starr and countless other musical nuggets. There are live artist performances, and punters get the chance to be involved by texting in with the tunes they want to hear in advance.

With sensible door and drink prices, and music from the decade that did the whole 'urban' thing the best - combined with The Jazz Cafe's world-class surroundings - this promises to be a real special event, whether you were there in the golden years, or you just love the music of those great times.

Thanks for your post. Very interesting. Just shows how Lean can be used to create a more structured and authoritative report on a problem.
