Southport Weekender returns home for Heritage event

By Mark Devlin | 17 September 2014

The legendary Southport Weekender returns to the location which spawned its name next month, six years after moving its main annual event to Minehead in Somerset. The Southport Heritage Weekender takes place on the Pontins complex in Ainsdale, Southport, Merseyside, from 17th to 19th October, and boasts one of the strongest cross-genre line-ups in the event's history.

The event will host the usual four rooms of music, with The Powerhouse acting as home to soulful and deep house, The Funkbase hosting soul, funk and urban sounds, The Connoisseurs Corner dealing with rare and underground soul, and The Beat Bar handling jazzy, eclectic vibes. Headlining over the weekend are the Body & Soul New York trio of Francois K, Joe Clausell and Danny Krivit, Kerri Chandler, Louie Vega's Dance Ritual, Tony Humphries, Dimitri From Paris, Joey Negro, Paul 'Trouble' Anderson, DJ Spinna, Trevor Nelson, Jazzie B, Gilles Peterson, DJ Spen, Shortee Blitz, Ronnie Herel, Bigger and Bob Jeffries.

The live acts are always announced closer to the date, but the organisers promise a landmark bill to rival any of their previous offerings.

Tickets are priced at £195 for the Friday and Saturday night, or £220 to include the Limited Edition Sunday Night Finale. Full booking details are available at http://www.southportweekender.co.uk. The organisers have said that all bookings must be completed by 26th September.
