Revival pressure at The Lounge, Manchester, on Saturday 25th March

By Shaun Shearer | 03 March 2017

There's a good reason why Manchester's The Lounge has earned a reputation as one of the city's liveliest party spots with one of the most diverse musical programmes. Rather than being run by corporate investors in suits who are clueless when it comes to music, this venue is owned and operated by a group of DJs. The Brown Suga collective, headed by Eddie Down, had already been putting on successful nights in the North West for some time before the opportunity arose to manage their own spot.

While most of its events deal with contemporary sounds for a younger crowd, a real asset in the club’s schedule is its monthly Brown Suga’s Soul Survivor. This deals with old-school throwbacks from the golden era of R&B and hip-hop - 90s and early 2000s - with sounds thrown down by DJs who were active in that nostalgic era. The next session is on Saturday 25th March, and sees Black Sheep Mag’s own Mark Devlin guesting alongside Lounge head honcho Eddie Down. The event is presented in association with Miss Diva’s Breakfast Show on Legacy 90.1FM and, as a reflection of Mother’s Day this month, offers free entry and a complimentary Moet champagne reception for all mothers before 1am. The session rocks on until 6.

The Lounge is at 31 Withy Grove, Manchester, Greater Manchester M4 2BJ. Phone: 08432899614. More at https://www.facebook.com/LoungeMcr?fref=ts
