Singer Eddy Grant is threatening to sue pop group Gorillaz, claiming Damon Albarn's cartoon band have "stolen" from one of his tracks.

Grant claims that the Gorillaz copied his 1977 song Time Warp on their new single.

"I am outraged that the Gorillaz have infringed the copyright of my song Time Warp, claiming their song Stylo to be an original composition," he said.

EMI Publishing, which represents both acts, said it was "a private matter between Eddy Grant and Gorillaz".

Gorillaz latest album Plastic Beach went to number two in the chart at the weekend after being beaten by Boyzone.
