The much-anticipated biopic movie on 2Pac is reportedly on schedule to begin filming in mid-November. No actor has yet been lined up to portray the slain rapper, however, and the producers have expressed an interest in casting an as-yet unknown face in the role.
According to New York magazine, the Antoine Fuqua-directed film will be written by Oscar-nominated screenwriters Stephen J. Rivele and Chris Wilkinson (Ali, Nixon).
The film, which was originally planned to be done documentary style, is now expected to focus specifically on the last day of Tupac’s life. Instead of attempting to answer the question of who may have been responsible for his murder, it will instead question why certain parties might have wanted him dead.
